Packing, Day one

In 4 more sleeps we’ll be flying away! I’ve bought the tickets, booked the first hostel (Ravnice Youth Hostel), picked up travel insurance, called VISA, got a ride to the airport, convinced my sister to water my plants, printed out multiple copies of the itineraries, emailed them to the parents, and bought everything I think I’ll need. Now comes the packing. I figured I’d post the lists as I go as it may come in handy, for me when I’m far away and for you, my wonderful readers who may be curious about how I intend to live out of a 60L backpack for 2 weeks. (and eventually 6 months)

Currently in my pack:

    First Aid Pouch:
    Blister pads
    Band-aids
    Moleskin
    Sterile pads
    Tape
    Alcohol wipes
    Tensor bandage
    Scissors
    Tweezers
    Polysporin
    Cortaid
    Hand sanitizer
    Imodium
    Gravol
    Axert
    Sudafed
    Motrin
    Ovol
    Airborne
    Halls
    Kleenex
Glucosamine cream (I have toe arthritis, shutup)

    Laundry Pouch:
    Elastic line
    Sink Stopper
    Detergent
    Sewing kit
Tiny travel towels (that look like mentos)

    Utility Pouch:
    Copy of itinerary
    Notepad
    Pen
    Travel adapter
    Headlamp
    Charger
    Batteries
    Camera, iPod, iRiver cables

Sounds like a lot but it fits into my purse. For the first-aid pouch, keep in mind I’m not über paranoid, or highly prone to injuries and cooties, I’m thinking long term and I like to think I’m a good girl-scout. Add a travel towel, Lonely Planet Croatia, and The Last Boleyn, and that is day one of packing completed.

This time next month…

I’ll be finalizing my packing and documents to head to Croatia! We managed to get a great seat sale to Frankfurt and a friend of mine insisted that Croatia is where we had to go. The more I look into it, the more I agree with him. Had to get a new pack because the one I got a while back didn’t fit my midget torso when I went back to get properly fitted. I ended up picking up this one. Also picked up travel towels and money belts but there’s still a TON to do before we leave. Next item on the list is a day bag and travel insurance.
